Job summary

Montrose Environmental in Santa Ana, CA, seeks a Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer to support environmental projects onsite with hybrid options. The role includes fieldwork, data collection, and preparing guidance documents and permit applications.

You will work under PMs/Principals, track budgets and hours, ensure OSHA/compliance standards, and stay current with industry trends and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university.
• 0–2 years of environmental compliance experience with industrial, municipal, and/or federal clientele.
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record in accordance with Company standard.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong time management skills, able to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines.

• Maintain confidentiality at all times, within Montrose and for our clients and affiliates.
• Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including completion of all required safety training programs.
• Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
• Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• 0‑2 years of environmental compliance experience with industrial, municipal, and/or federal clientele.
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record in accordance with Company standard.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong time management skills, able to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Physically capable of canvassing large project areas by foot on various terrain and potentially inclement weather; may involve local travel as needed.

Salary

Annual salary range: $71,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
