Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field.
  • Familiarity with ASTM Phase I ESA standards or coursework.
  • Interest or experience in site reconnaissance, field sampling, and reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion field methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel regionally; valid U.S. driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Perform site reconnaissance and regulatory review.
  • Coordinate and support Phase II investigations.
  • Collect soil, groundwater, vapor, and indoor air samples; assist with remediation oversight.
  • Interpret field and laboratory data.

Hart & Hickman, PC (H&H) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Professional to join our new Greenville, SC office. This role is open to a range of experience levels — from recent graduates launching their careers to professionals with a few years of consulting experience. Our current Greenville team includes seasoned environmental professionals with decades of combined experience, and we are excited to continue growing our team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in establishing and expanding H&H's presence in the Upstate while working alongside a collaborative and supportive team.

Recent graduates will receive structured training and close mentorship to develop these skills, while candidates with prior experience will find opportunities to take on greater responsibility from day one.

What We're Looking For

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related field
  • Familiarity with ASTM Phase I ESA standards, through coursework, internships, or professional experience
  • An interest in (or experience with) site reconnaissance, field sampling, and preparing technical reports
  • Ability — or eagerness to learn — to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Knowledge or experience with field methods such as soil, groundwater, and vapor intrusion assessment
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking when evaluating analytical data or making field decisions
  • A desire to contribute to a growing office and collaborate across disciplines
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel
  • Willingness for periodic overnight travel (predominantly in the Southeast) for fieldwork
Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting and preparing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
