Job summary

The City of Brentwood, TN seeks a Staff Engineer – Traffic and Development to provide technical support for development review and traffic engineering. You will evaluate traffic safety, support smart development, coordinate neighborhood traffic calming, and improve Brentwood’s transportation infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Has experience with traffic calming evaluation, traffic study review, and development-related traffic recommendations.
• Is self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of independence.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills when working with public, developers, consultants, or across departments.
• Committed to professional development and pursuing P.E. licensure.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates neighborhood traffic calming requests, petitions, meetings, data evaluation, and recommendations.
• Reviews development plans for compliance with city code and standards.
• Performs limited review of stormwater and utilities in coordination with staff.
• Tracks submittals, permit submissions, and review status.
• Coordinates with third-party traffic consultants and supports agenda items on commissions.
