Job summary

MongoDB is seeking an experienced architect to define the architecture of a self-contained search system spanning Community, Enterprise, and Atlas, while guiding integration of AI-native capabilities. You will own the cross-system data infrastructure for MongoDB's next-generation Search and Vector Search, with impact across cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid deployments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data management systems or related distributed infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in modern programming languages with Java fluency preferred.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems, cloud services, or SaaS products at scale.
• Ability to reason about systems at the physical layer: durability, concurrency, and failure modes.
• Track record at Staff or Principal scope: defining technical direction and cross-team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own cross-system data infra for next-gen Search and Vector Search.
• Define Atlas Search roadmap and align with global teams.
• Lead mongot and Mongo Management Service infrastructure decisions.
• Drive multi-team initiatives by building consensus amid ambiguity.
• Advise leadership on roadmap, architecture, and process.
• Mentor peers and raise the team's technical ceiling.
• Standardize cross-team contracts to increase execution velocity.
