Job summary

Analog Devices, Inc. in Wilmington, MA, is seeking a Staff Engineer for MEMS test engineering and product development.

You will design high-performance test solutions for MEMS accelerometers and gyroscopes, and support wafer probe and final test through production readiness. You will mentor junior engineers, define calibration methods for key MEMS/IMU parameters, and collaborate with Design, Applications and Manufacturing teams to ensure yield and quality across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering or related field and 5 years in test engineering or related role.
  • Experience with design verification tools and flows including Verilog/Verilog simulators or Spice equivalents.
  • Experience in developing software in major ATE platforms to test ICs on custom PCBs and interface to ATE.
  • Ability to design software/hardware to characterize and production-test state-of-the-art ICs.
  • Experience with statistics for validation of products and setting test limits.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-performance MEMS test solutions and methods for accelerometers and gyroscopes across verification, characterization and production.
  • Create multi-site, cost-effective test hardware/software for characterization and production wafer probe and final test.
  • Define calibration methods for key MEMS/IMU parameters; ensure testability and data-driven decisions across product lifecycle.

Duties

Design and develop high performance test solutions and test methods on Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) such as accelerometers and gyroscopes for first silicon verification, characterization, qualification and manufacturing of precision digital and mixed signal products. Design, develop and debug multi-site, cost effective test hardware/software solutions for characterization, qualification and production wafer probe and final test. This also includes defining calibration methods for key Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) product parameters. Design, develop, and implement cost-effective methods of testing, evaluating and troubleshooting systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing. Define test schematics and work with layout engineers in designing of printed circuit boards multi-site test hardware. Debug test programs, correlate production test solutions to engineering bench measurements, and transfer production test solutions to manufacturing sites. Engage and support manufacturing to maintain production yield, quality and resolve product and test problems after production release. Participate in new product development teams and evaluate new test systems for future applications and define methods to specify and guarantee key test parameters for MEMS devices and Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs). Work with the Design and Systems/Applications teams to develop and implement a Design for Test plan and take tests in the Design Verification environment to the Automatic Test Equipment. Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior engineers across teams and overseeing project schedules that align with product introduction and release.

Requirements
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering or related field (willing to accept a foreign educational equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Test Engineer or related occupation developing product test solutions for analog or mixed signal integrated circuits.
  • Must also possess the following (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section):
  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) programming in object-oriented and scripting languages for analog/digital devices and products;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design verification tools and flows including Verilog, Verilog simulators, Spice simulators, or related languages;
  • DE developing software in major ATE software platforms to test ICs on custom designed and debugged PCBs for interface to ATE;
  • DE designing (individually and/or as part of a team) software and hardware to characterize and production test state-of-the-art ICs;
  • DE using statistical analysis tools and reports oriented for validation of products to set test limits on products and datasheets;
  • DE participating in project development including support of design-for-testability, product qualification, inertial test methodologies & specifications and ongoing support of products in production; and
  • DE releasing products to production by interfacing with various departments such as Quality, Reliability, Applications, Product Engineering, Assembly, Failure analysis and Global Operations.
  • Experience and skills may be gained during a PhD program.
