The Staff Systems Engineer is a senior individual contributor and technical leader responsible for defining, integrating, and delivering complex product systems throughout the product lifecycle. Serving as the Technical Lead for major New Product Development (NPD) programs, this role ensures the complete product meets customer, business, performance, quality, regulatory, manufacturability, serviceability, and safety requirements. The role supports the development of fuel dispensers, payment terminals, and electric-vehicle charging products. Working across electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and other product-development disciplines, the Staff Systems Engineer develops cohesive system solutions aligned with technical requirements and business objectives. The position provides system-level technical direction, leads cross-functional engineering execution, mentors engineers, and advances common systems-engineering methods and standards.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline (preferably electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, systems engineering, or a related engineering discipline). Desired experience level 7+ years. Demonstrated experience leading technical work across multiple engineering disciplines and functions. Experience developing product/system requirements, architecture or interface definitions, verification and validation strategies, requirements traceability, and test-coverage assessment, risk analyses, and technical documentation. Experience supporting products through design, prototype, validation, release, and sustaining phases. Strong technical judgment, structured problem-solving ability, communication skills, and ability to influence without direct authority. Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD, including creating and modifying parts, assemblies, and drawings for sheet-metal enclosures, mechanical packaging, tube routing, and product-level integration.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience serving as a technical lead on formal NPD or stage-gate product-development programs. Experience with PRS, MRD, component specifications, requirements traceability, DFMEA, design reviews, ERB approvals, verification/validation, and regulatory compliance. Experience with product configuration, BOMs, ECOs, product documentation, prototype builds, manufacturing transition, and field validation. Familiarity with systems involving electrical/electronic architecture, wiring and cables, mechanical enclosures, hydraulics, or connected products. Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering standards, processes, or reusable technical practices. Experience applying product safety, regulatory, and certification requirements to product development, including familiarity with UL, FCC, and weights-and-measures requirements.
