Job summary

DDN is seeking a Staff Engineer with 10+ years of distributed storage and Linux-based systems engineering experience. This hands-on role focuses on design, debugging, performance, and operability for LustreFS across subsystems.

You will drive complex investigations and collaborate across engineering, QE, support and release teams with an emphasis on reliability and AI-assisted triage. The ideal candidate brings deep LustreFS expertise, strong C programming skills, and the ability to navigate

Qualifications

• 10+ years in systems software, distributed storage, or Linux kernel/FS engineering.
• Deep LustreFS development or performance experience in at least one subsystem.
• Strong C programming and Linux debugging skills.
• Knowledge of Linux kernel internals, networking, and performance analysis.
• Experience with LNet or high-performance transports (RDMA, InfiniBand, RoCE, TCP).
• Ability to debug across client, server, network and storage layers.
• Collaborative, fast-moving engineering mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and debug LustreFS features, fixes and enhancements across subsystems such as llite, MDS/MDT, OSS/OST, LDLM and LNet.
• Investigate customer and scale-related defects, perform root-cause analysis and implement fixes.
• Contribute to performance tuning, failure analysis and reliability improvements for large-scale Lustre deployments.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews and subsystem discussions with rigorous testing and readiness.
• Collaborate with QE and support to reproduce issues and improve diagnostic data quality.
