Job description

Verdantas is seeking a Staff Engineer II at Mentor, Ohio. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates or emerging professionals ready to transition from academic learning to impactful, real‑world engineering. As a Staff II Engineer, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that values innovation, curiosity, and continuous growth.

What You’ll Do

• Provide technical planning and design support on various utility projects that may include storm and sanitary sewer collection systems, water distribution, and other civil engineering projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations to support design.
• Prepare design reports and construction plans using local and state standards.
• Prepare construction plans using AutoCAD 3D Civil 3D.
• Prepare plans and specifications for public bid.
• Prepare/assist with permit submittals.
• Prepare preliminary project cost estimates and evaluate quantities.
• Assist with/review scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks.
• Document design changes and communications.
• Conduct on‑site inspections as needed.
• Prepare project status and other reports.
• Assist Project Managers.
• Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, preconstruction, etc.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
• 2-4 years of experience in civil‑site and municipal engineering.
• Familiarity with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling software is a plus.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D preferred.
• EIT preferred.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS software is a plus.

Salary Range

The compensation range starts at $70,000 and is based on the position, experience, and licensure.
