Job summary

Samsung Semiconductor in San Jose, CA is seeking a firmware test engineer to develop black-box functional test coverage for NVMe SSDs, debug issues with the FW team, and drive test methodology improvements across on-site teams.

Candidates should have a CS/EE background with 8+ years' experience at Masters or 10+ years with a Bachelor's, strong Python/Bash/Linux skills, NVMe/PCIe knowledge, and excellent communication. The role offers a competitive base pay and benefits.

• Bachelors and 10+ yrs or Masters and 8+ yrs with focus in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong programming experience, demonstrated proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Linux shell scripts etc.

• Ability to work individually and in teams.
• Prior NVMe, PCIe knowledge or experience with one or more of the following storage-related technologies: NVM Express, PCI Express, NAND Flash/FTL.
• Knowledge of Enterprise storage/server systems, and proficiency in Linux.

The Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED)

Our core development focus is the host interface firmware layer that sits in the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This key host interface firmware technology drives Samsung’s breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers, to big data processing, to software defined virtualized storage arrays and infrastructures.

Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA office / U.S. headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy.
