Job summary

Samsung Semiconductor’s TED lab in San Jose, CA is seeking engineers to develop and execute functional test coverage for NVMe SSDs, debug issues with the firmware team, and analyze field data to close gaps in testing. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and 5+ yrs, Masters and 3+ yrs’ in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong programming experience with Python, Bash and Linux shell scripting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work individually and in teams.
  • Prior NVMe, PCIe knowledge or experience with storage technologies like NVM Express, PCI Express, NAND Flash/FTL.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise storage/server systems and proficiency in Linux.
  • Expertise in storage test tools: performance benchmarks, IO stress tools, protocol certifications, test execution and bug management.
  • Hands‑on experience in embedded software or firmware development/testing, including storage devices.
  • Familiarity with agile development and AI/ML environments is preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with PCI protocol analyzers.
  • Demonstrated team player with globally distributed teams.

The Technology Enabling Development Lab (TED) Our core development focus is the host interface firmware layer that sits in the intersection of system software and flash management firmware. This key host interface firmware technology drives Samsung’s breakthrough V-NAND technology and enables our customers to power performance-oriented, demanding, enterprise-class applications ranging from hyper-scale data centers, to big data processing, to software defined virtualized storage arrays and infrastructures.

Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose, CA office / U.S. headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop black-box functional test coverage and test methodologies for NVMe SSD's.

What You Bring
  • Bachelors and 5+ yrs, Masters and 3+ yrs’ with focus in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong programming experience, demonstrated proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Linux shell scripts etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work individually and in teams.
  • Prior NVMe, PCIe knowledge or experience with one or more of the following storage-related technologies: NVM Express, PCI Express, NAND Flash/FTL.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise storage/server systems, and proficiency in Linux.
  • Expertise in storage test tools such as performance benchmarks, IO stress tools, protocol certifications, test execution and bug management tools.
  • Relevant hands‑on experience in embedded software or firmware development/testing, including storage devices or other embedded platforms.
  • Familiarity and experience with agile development methodologies and practices, particularly in AI/ML-focused environments, is preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with PCI protocol analyzers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player, as part of a local and globally distributed team.
