About theFinancial Engines team
The Financial Engines team enables the entire investment and retirement journey for a participant.
Our software systems provide the core functionality for participants to invest money efficiently and accurately, thus enabling them to achieve their target savings with financial security. Additionally our systems provide the core functionality to borrow or withdraw their money when they need it most.
The Financial Engines team is responsible for the software systems that manage core workflows responsible for investing into funds, managing cash and loans and moving money between accounts. Our goal is to provide participants an effortless experience while ensuring all operations are handled at high scale with accuracy. The Financial Engines transactions encompass the highest volume and most critical workflows in the entire company. Our products provide an investment experience that is highly scalable, accurate, timely and secure.
Our team regularly undertakes projects that are critical to the company's success, often ranking as a top company initiative. We are excited to be growing our team in 2024 to seize new and exciting business opportunities. In 2024 and beyond we will develop new features and services from scratch that cater to the most critical actors in our system including administrators, participants and service partners. These features will enable the success of the company by unlocking new revenue, time savings and cost optimizations. We are one of the teams contributing to offerings that will provide significant new growth for the company.
About You
You are passionate about designing and delivering highly scalable and reliable service oriented architectures. You’re comfortable with the lifecycle of feature and service development including data modeling, component design, sizing, building prototypes and gaining buy-in from technical and business stakeholders. You are a mentor for senior engineers in your organization and enjoy coaching them toward improving effectiveness and technical capabilities. You are knowledgeable in the areas of transaction processing, automation engines, reporting, integrations and cloud based technologies. You have conducted detailed performance analysis of systems and have designed scalable databases(both SQL and Nosql). You are a highly collaborative team player who is willing to both learn from as well as coach your teammates. You are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
About the role
This is a highly impactful, hands-on, senior level technical leadership role where the successful candidate will drive the technical direction for our organization of over 20 engineers across 4 agile teams. This includes providing technical guidance and mentorship to our senior engineers and technical leads. The role involves defining and refining our architecture, processes and best practices across our organization. As this is a hands-on role, the successful candidate will collaborate with domain experts, technical leads and engineers to design, build, test, and own systems and processes for servicing 401(k) plans and making our customers happy. As reliability and performance are key to earning our customers’ trust, the role includes owning the overall robustness of our area and extending our system’s reliability, scalability, observability and maintainability.

Compensation - At Human Interest, there are a number of factors that are used to determine the appropriate pay range for each position. We take into account the cost of labor for each position in various markets across the US. The base salary for this position spans $245,000- $275,000and represents the minimum in our lowest geographic region to a maximumin our highest geographic region. The salary that we offer to a new employee within this range is based on their location within the US, their relevant job-related skills, and experience. At Human Interest, base salary is one component of the overall Total Rewards package. Depending on the position, additional compensation components such as bonus, commission, and equity may be offered. All of our employees are offered a robust suite of physical, financial and mental wellness benefits.
