Shield AI is redefining autonomous aviation with cutting-edge AI and GPS/RF-denied navigation technologies. We’re building a next-generation aircraft and seeking a Staff Electromechanical Engineer to design and integrate avionics systems from concept to production.

You will own the development of complex electro-mechanical solutions, work with cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with DO-160/254/178C and MIL-STD standards.

Qualifications

• Design complex electromechanical solutions for avionics packaging, electrical interconnects, thermal management, and aircraft integration.
• Perform structural, preliminary thermal, and modal analyses for avionics to ensure survivability in harsh environments.
• Ensure avionics meet DO-160, DO-254, DO-178C, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461.
• Own your design work from concept and design reviews through system validation, failure analysis, and flight-test readiness.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical equipment design for aerospace, including harness integration and mechanical component design.
• Familiarity with the PCB layout process and harness design software

We are looking for a Staff Electromechanical Engineer to join our team, focused on the design and integration of avionics systems and driving designs from concept to production. • Design complex electromechanical solutions for avionics packaging, electrical interconnects, thermal management, and aircraft integration
• Perform structural, preliminary thermal, and modal analyses for avionics to ensure survivability in harsh environments
• Ensure avionics meet performance, safety, environmental, and EMI/EMC compliance standards, including DO-160, DO-254, DO-178C, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-461
• Own your design work from concept and design reviews through system validation, failure analysis, and flight-test readiness
• B.S. and/or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical equipment design for aerospace, including harness integration and mechanical component design
• Expertise in CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar tools for 3D modeling, drawing creation, and system layout
• Experience collaborating with electrical engineers to define PCB constraints, develop circuit cards, and manage all mechanical interfaces
• Familiarity with the PCB layout process and advanced manufacturing methods
• Familiarity with eCAD software such as Altium, Cadence, or Allegro and harness design software such as Capital or Zuken
• Experience with finite element analysis, thermal analysis, and fatigue or lifecycle testing
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile development environment with evolving priorities
• Ability to obtain an S//SAR-level security clearance is desired
