Shield AI is redefining autonomous aviation with cutting-edge AI and GPS/RF-denied navigation technologies. We’re building a next-generation aircraft and seeking an Electromechanical Engineer to join our team and support the design and integration of avionics systems for advanced aircraft.

This entry-level role provides hands-on learning with guidance from experienced engineers from development through manufacturing and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Fundamental mechanical engineering concepts.
• Experience with CAD software like NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
• Ability to read and create basic engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with electromechanical systems and interfaces.
• Willing to obtain S//SAR-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

We are looking for an Electromechanical Engineer to join our team and support the design and integration of avionics systems for advanced aircraft. In this entry-level role, you will apply engineering fundamentals, work alongside experienced engineers, and contribute to designs from initial development through manufacturing and testing. • Support the design of electromechanical solutions for avionics packaging, electrical interconnects, thermal management, and aircraft integration
• Create and update 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and other design documentation
• Assist with structural, thermal, and modal analyses under the guidance of experienced engineers
• Work with electrical engineers to define and document mechanical interfaces for circuit cards, connectors, wiring, and harnesses
• Help investigate well-defined design and manufacturing issues, evaluate solutions, and document results
• Support prototype builds, system integration, environmental testing, failure analysis, and flight-test readiness activities
• Follow, and contribute to, established engineering processes, configuration-control practices, and functional best practices
• Develop plans for assigned tasks, communicate progress and risks, and execute against team priorities
• Build effective working relationships within the team, incorporate feedback, and share relevant knowledge
• Contribute to products that advance Shield AI’s mission while demonstrating the company’s values
• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering concepts, including mechanics, materials, heat transfer, and manufacturing processes
• Academic, internship, project, or hands-on experience using CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA
• Ability to create or interpret basic engineering drawings and mechanical layouts
• Familiarity with electromechanical systems, circuit cards, connectors, wiring, and harness integration
• Basic understanding of structural or thermal analysis methods
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, organization, and communication skills
• Ability to complete well-defined engineering tasks with guidance from peers and managers
• Ability to collaborate effectively, accept feedback, and work in a fast-paced development environment with evolving priorities
• Ability to obtain an S//SAR-level security clearance is desired
• Internship, co-op, student-team, research, or project experience involving UAVs, aircraft, robotics, electronics packaging, or other electromechanical systems
