Job summary

Shield AI seeks an experienced mechanical engineer to own a new battery pack from concept to production in a fast-paced environment. You will balance size, weight, and reliability while coordinating across engineering, manufacturing, and program teams.

You’ll prototype, test, qualify, and hand off to production, writing 2D drawings and assembly specifications. A strong CAD background and battery-dedicated experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience with battery and mechanical design.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics, thermal design, and electronics.

Responsibilities

• Own design responsibility of a new battery pack, from concept through production
• Drive optimal performance while managing size, weight, manufacturing, and reliability
• Hands-on prototyping, testing, qualification, and handoff to production
• Define requirements, specifications, assembly drawings, 2D drawings
• Root cause failures and production problems
• Drive a cross-functional team to execute the top-level architecture
• Provide mentorship, design review, and program execution leadership
• Work in a fast-paced environment

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Have designed and delivered a battery product to market before
• Proficiency in CAD modeling
• Experience with various manufacturing processes

$187,000 - $281,000 a year

Full-time regular employee offer package:
