Applied Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a remote role to advance high-quality electrical designs across multiple subsystems. You will own schematics, calculations, and BOMs, and drive design reviews with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in industrial electrical design, strong knowledge of power distribution, and experience with NEC/UL criteria. This role offers a remote work setup with travel up to 20% across the USA.

Formación

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of industrial experience in electrical design or electromechanical systems.
• Knowledge of power distribution, conversion, monitoring, controls, and system integration.
• Experience in designing specs for switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, and generators.
• Experience using NEC, UL and derating criteria for component validation.
• Proficiency with design documentation, reviews, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with design standards, manufacturability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations for electrical power solutions.
• Ability to specify safe and effective prototype testing practices.

We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Electrical Design Engineer. You will be part of a group of engineers dedicated to high-quality work, value-add solutions, skill development, and career growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and validation for major subsystems and product areas
• Translate system requirements into practical, robust electrical designs
• Own schematics, drawings, calculations, specifications, and bills of material
• Drive design reviews, trade studies, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project teams
• Mentor early-career engineers and reinforce electrical design standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required
• ~5+ years of industrial experience in electrical design or electromechanical systems
• ~ Strong knowledge of power distribution, conversion, monitoring, controls, and system integration
• ~ Experience designing specifications for switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, loadbanks, and generators
• ~ Experience selecting and validating electrical components using NEC, UL, and industry derating criteria
• ~ Proven experience with design documentation, reviews, testing, validation, and troubleshooting
• ~ Working knowledge of design standards, manufacturability, safety, and compliance practices
• ~ Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for electrical power solutions
• ~ Ability to specify safe and effective prototype testing practices
• ~ Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, ETAP, SKM, or similar tools
• ~ Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
• ~ Ability to travel up to 20% within the USA
• ~ Experience with ERP, PLM, and engineering data management systems preferred
• ~ Desire to work on a variety of projects
