Job summary

ModMed is seeking a strategic and technical Staff Engineer, Database Platform to lead our data infrastructure engineering and operations from our Boca Raton, FL headquarters. You will own end-to-end database lifecycle, drive reliability, performance, and security for SQL and NoSQL systems, and promote database-as-code practices across teams.

Reporting to the Sr Manager, Database Platform and Architecture, you will define the platform roadmap, oversee IaC-driven provisioning, implement SLOs/SLIs,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 10+ years of database experience.
• Experience leading automated database provisioning and lifecycle management via IaC.
• Expert knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases at scale.
• Experience in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong CI/CD and automated schema migration tooling experience.

Responsibilities

• Define platform architectural roadmap ensuring database reliability.
• Oversee automated provisioning and scaling for SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Enforce zero-downtime deployments and robust security practices (RBAC, encryption).
• Own backup and disaster recovery (DR) strategy.
• Collaborate with teams to maintain high availability and performance.
