Job summary

Jobtailor in Austin, TX is seeking a Staff Engineer to own data platform initiatives, including master data, metadata and data models, and to drive scalable data pipelines.

You will assemble large datasets, optimize data delivery, and deliver insights on business metrics. The role requires strong Python/Java/C++ background and experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and SQL/NoSQL databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Master's with required experience as listed; five years for Bachelor's, three for Master's.
• Three years of experience with object-oriented and functional languages including Python, Java, C++, and Scala.
• Two years of experience with Big Data tools including Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
• Two years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as Postgres and Cassandra.
• Two years of experience with stream-processing systems including Storm and Spark-Streaming.
• Must be able to report to the local office.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and maintain Master Data, Metadata, Data Management Repositories, Logical Data Models, and Data Standards
• Assemble large, complex data sets meeting functional and non-functional business requirements
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements
• Automate manual processes and optimize data delivery
• Redesign infrastructure for greater scalability
• Build industrialized analytic datasets and delivery mechanisms using the data pipeline
• Deliver actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics
