Job summary

Synopsys, Inc. seeks a research/software engineer to advance optimization and numerical modeling for computational lithography.

You will work on calibration, model development, and interdisciplinary collaboration with field engineers to translate requirements into production-quality code. Strong candidates have PhD in relevant fields (or MS with significant industry experience), expert C++ and Python skills, and a background in numerical methods and statistical analysis.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related field strongly preferred (recent PhD graduates encouraged to apply; PhD with 1–2 years of industry experience ideal), or MS in a related field with approximately 5 years of directly relevant industry experience in computational modeling, optimization, or numerical methods

Responsibilities

• Design and implement optimization techniques that reduce model calibration runtime
• Prototype and develop new mathematical models for lithography simulation in C++
• Calibrate and tune complex non-linear model parameters using statistical analysis and optimization
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and integrate modeling solutions
• Analyze outlier data and develop sampling strategies to improve robustness
• Maintain and extend existing Lithography models and diagnose performance issues
• Work with field engineers and customers to troubleshoot model behavior and validate solutions
