Job summary

Science Exchange is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead architectural decisions and scale a platform that accelerates scientific research. You will mentor engineers, drive AI-assisted development, and help shape usage of Salesforce and AWS across the stack.

You will collaborate with product and business partners to deliver robust, scalable solutions while maintaining high standards of code quality and security. This role offers impact across the engineering organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience at Staff or senior tech leadership level.
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows and ability to mentor others on their use.
• Deep expertise with React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Strong experience with AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway).
• Experience with Salesforce development (Apex, SOQL, LWC) is a plus.
• Proven track record leading architectural design discussions and driving technical decisions.
• Ability to mentor engineers and improve team practices and processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full development lifecycle from design through deployment aligned with long-term architecture goals.
• Translate designs into robust, scalable code using platform features and custom development as needed.
• Champions AI-assisted engineering practices; evaluates tools and runs trainings.
• Break down complex work into estimable tasks and lead team estimations.
• Identify and resolve tough bugs and performance issues; guide debugging and security.
• Provide constructive feedback in code reviews to raise code quality.
• Communicate technical tradeoffs clearly with engineering, product, and business partners.
