Job summary

ATG (Autonomous Technologies Group) is seeking a backend engineer to architect and maintain distributed services powering AI research and deployment for financial markets.

You will design APIs, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure, enabling rapid experimentation and scalable compute. The role emphasizes collaboration with research and infra teams in a small, high-agency environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building distributed systems or high-availability backends.
• Strong proficiency in Python and at least one systems language.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, and orchestration.
• Database setup, management, and optimization (SQL/NoSQL).
• Relentless focus on code quality and performance.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools to boost productivity while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services, data pipelines, and APIs
• Build infrastructure for high-throughput, low-latency AI/ML workflows
• Set up and manage databases (SQL/NoSQL), including schema design, replication, indexing, and performance optimization
• Optimize for performance, reliability, and security at every layer
• Implement observability best practices (logging, tracing, monitoring, performance tuning)
• Work closely with research and infra teams to support experimental velocity
• Contribute to core engineering culture, including code reviews and mentorship
