General Motors seeks a Staff Engineer to lead data management efforts, maintain master data and data standards, and design scalable data pipelines. You will assemble large data sets to support key business metrics such as customer acquisition and operational efficiency, collaborating across teams.
The role requires strong experience in Python/Java/C++/Scala and proficiency with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases, and stream processing.
Communicate and maintain Master Data, Metadata, Data Management Repositories, Logical Data Models, and Data Standards. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability. Build industrialized analytic datasets and delivery mechanisms that utilize the data pipeline to deliver actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software engineering, Electrical engineering, or related field of study and Five (5) years of experience as a Staff Engineer, Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation
or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software engineering, Electrical engineering, or related field of study and Three (3) years of experience as a Staff Engineer, Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation
Three (3) years of experience with: Object-oriented and object function scripting languages including Python, Java, C++, and Scala.
Two (2) years of experience with: Big Data Tools including Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka; Advanced SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra; and Stream-processing systems including Storm and Spark-Streaming.
