Job summary

Stryker is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Embedded in Kalamazoo to lead design and development of embedded software for powered ambulance cots and patient handling systems. You will work on electromechanical control, UI, sensors, and connected device functionality, ensuring safety and reliability.

Responsibilities include architecture, coding, testing, integration, and code reviews, with emphasis on cyber-security and high-quality software delivery for medical devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering/Computer Engineering/Computer Science or related field.
• 4+ years of embedded software experience.
• Experience designing, developing, installing, and testing UI elements.
• Strong coding skills in C++, C, and Python with design patterns knowledge.
• Familiar with IDEs, static/dynamic analysis tools, memory management, code coverage, and ALM/Traceability.
• Experience with Perforce or Git and estimating time/resources for code implementation.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical team in design and development of components and subsystems for medical devices.
• Design and develop embedded software in C++, C, Python per requirements.
• Implement embedded cybersecurity within medical devices.
• Prototype, test, and research to support product development and innovation.
• Translate user needs into design inputs/specifications and produce advanced designs.
• Lead code reviews and ensure adherence to design principles and standards.
