Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Staff Electronics Engineer to join our Rancho Bernardo, CA team. The role requires a self‑starter capable of working in an Integrated Product Team construct, with on‑site duties at our facility.

The selected candidate will manage fielded systems, drive issue resolution, and participate in technical review boards. A Top Secret clearance, DoD 8140 IAT II certification, and willingness to travel 25% are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or higher in a STEM discipline with extensive related experience.
  • IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, CISSP).
  • Active U.S. government Top Secret clearance with background investigation within 6 years or Continuous Evaluation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SCI clearance and SAP clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Drive issue resolution for complex data center and communication systems in the field.
  • Manage Root Cause Corrective Actions and related resolutions.
  • Perform maintenance and sustainment for ground segment systems in the field.
  • Deliver status updates and coordinate with Field Response IPT leadership and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate technical change packages and support CCB processes.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Staff Electronics Engineer to join our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.

Roles And Responsibilities Will Include
  • Drive issue resolution in the field pertaining to complex data center and communication systems
  • Manage Root Cause Corrective Actions, drive root cause analysis and their associated resolutions for field technical issues.
  • Technical execution of maintenance and sustainment support of ground segment systems in the field
  • Provide performance status, drive execution and facilitate all associated communications with key stakeholders to include Field Response IPT leadership, enterprise liaison engineers and Mission Engineers.
  • Manage Integrated Functional Capability of fielded systems
  • Support for Operational Configuration Control (OCC) and Configuration Change Board (CCB) for all fielded systems, ensuring that proposed changes are properly reviewed, authorized, implemented, and documented to maintain the integrity of the operational baseline.
  • Review technical information prior to submission to the Configuration Change Board (CCB).
  • Support technical CCB package generation and provide technical oversight (expertise to RE’s)
  • Deliver presentations and technical packages to customers, management and program stakeholders
  • Manage cross engineering function action items
  • Approve modification implementation management
  • Measure and report status relating to modification performance
  • Serve as change agent for change Implementation process & culture
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders; including responsible engineers, program leadership and the customer community regarding technical, staffing resources and schedule pertaining to your statement of work
  • Produce, review, and coordinate technical change documentation
  • Champion and defend priorities for resolution of deficiencies through Technical and Software Review Boards
  • Review and develop technical publication material
  • Define, deliver and implement monthly cyber patches
  • Support Maintenance Review Boards

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is NO remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience in integration and testing of software and hardware components in Unix and windows environments.
  • Ability to Obtain DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+ce, CCNP, and CISSP.
  • Must have an active US Government Top-Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Government SCI clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Active USG Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Active DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Security+CE, CCNP, and CISSP.

Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
