Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Power Electronics Engineers to join our growing design team located in Sykesville, MD. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Power Electronics design group, working with other engineers to develop state-of-the-art power supplies and power products for military applications.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead power supply design teams and perform simulation and analysis, schematic creation, component selection, and printed wiring board layout.
Lead and perform technical trade studies.
Work in a lab environment and support hardware production.
Provide technical leadership, direction and mentoring to other technical employees in the application of scientific principles, tools and techniques to achieve practical end results.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent and 12+ years of hands-on power supply or power systems design and development experience, 10 years with a Master's Degree or 8 years with PhD.
Complete understanding of isolated and non-isolated power electronic circuit topologies & control techniques.
Highly familiar with analysis, simulation and PCB design tools (e.g., SPICE, LTSpice, SABER, MathCad, Matlab, Simulink, Xpedition).
US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current Secret clearance (or higher).
Highly familiar with power supply EMI/EMC filtering and design.
Deep understanding of dc/dc, dc/ac and ac/dc converters.
Digital control experience, FPGA and Firmware programming experience.
Magnetic component design experience.
High voltage design expertise.
SiC FET and other WBG semiconductor expertise.
Deep understanding of power related Mil-Stds for power quality and electromagnetic interference.
Hardware development team leadership experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Salary Range: $163,200 - $244,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
