Job summary

Stryker is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer-PCB within our Orthopaedic Instruments R&D team in Michigan. You will design and develop electrical components for medical devices, ensuring performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance for products already in clinical use.

Collaborate across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams, mentor teammates on design controls, and lead prototyping and testing to bring robust, manufacturable solutions to patients and surgeons worldwide.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • PCB/circuit design and electrical system testing experience.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze system-level drawings and interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical components and subsystems for medical devices, meeting performance and compliance standards.
  • Apply advanced circuit and system test methods to validate designs and ensure reliability.
  • Lead prototyping and testing efforts to evaluate design feasibility and performance.
  • Translate user needs into design inputs and specifications, ensuring alignment with clinical requirements.
  • Analyze and resolve complex design issues using data-driven approaches to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Collaborate across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to drive project success.
  • Author and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files, in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Mentor team members on design controls, risk management, and industry standards.

What You Will Do

What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • PCB/circuit design, electrical system testing and troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze system-level drawings and interactions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of design controls and regulatory compliance in a product development environment.
  • Experience designing for medical devices or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of common electrical component failure modes and mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with Voice of Customer (VoC) processes and clinical procedure inputs.
  • Understanding of system and environmental interactions in product design.
