Job summary

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our Washington-based team and help shape the future of water and wastewater infrastructure across the United States.

You will design electrical systems for treatment facilities, prepare technical deliverables using REVIT/CAD, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver coordinated project solutions on-time and with the highest quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience designing power and power distribution systems for water/wastewater facilities.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and CSI specifications.
  • EIT registration required; PE in Washington preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare construction drawings, technical specifications, and reports using REVIT, CAD, and BIM software.
  • Perform calculations such as voltage drop, load studies, and conduit/cable sizing.
  • Coordinate across disciplines with engineering teams, project stakeholders, and senior engineers to deliver coordinated project solutions.
  • Support project development and design development.

What You'll Do

As a Staff Electrical Engineer, you'll support electrical design, technical documentation, interdisciplinary coordination, and project delivery for water and wastewater infrastructure.

  • Design electrical systems: Develop electrical, instrumentation, and control system designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare technical deliverables: Support senior engineers in creating construction drawings, technical specifications, and reports. Produce high-quality electrical design documentation using REVIT, CAD, and/or BIM software.
  • Perform engineering calculations: Perform calculations such as voltage drop, load studies, and conduit/cable sizing.
  • Coordinate across disciplines: Collaborate with engineering teams, project stakeholders, and senior engineers to deliver coordinated project solutions.
  • Support project development: Contribute to project planning, research, and design development.
  • Apply engineering standards: Work in alignment with Kennedy Jenks' quality, safety, and engineering standards.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience designing power and power distribution systems, preferably for water, wastewater, industrial waste, or related infrastructure facilities.
  • Technical knowledge: Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, power distribution systems including 120/208V and 277/480V, standby generator sizing, and CSI specifications.
  • Licenses and professional registrations: EIT registration required; Professional Engineer (PE) in Washington highly preferred or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Salary range for this position is anticipated to be between $105,000 and $150,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
