Job summary

Astronics AES is seeking a Staff Level Electrical Engineer in Kirkland, WA to join the airborne Power Control team. On-site role with partial remote flexibility, supporting power electronics for jets, UAVs, and eVTOL projects.

Lead circuit design, simulations, and DO-254 compliance efforts while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust products for aerospace applications.

Qualifications

  • Experience in circuit design, simulation, PWB design support, and hardware verification.
  • Power electronics design experience; knowledge of resonant converters is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work in teams with leadership experience is valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines under tight schedules.
  • Ability to develop thorough technical data packages and solve complex problems.
  • Experience with aerospace standards including DO-160 and DO-254.

Responsibilities

  • Design analog and digital circuits for advanced power electronics products.
  • Use circuit simulation tools to optimize design approaches.
  • Research and select components based on performance, cost, and availability.
  • Perform hardware functional testing to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Develop designs aligned with RTCA DO-254 compliance standards.
  • Design robust products suitable for aircraft environments, considering temperature and EMI.
  • Collaborate with technicians to support hardware testing.
  • Present concepts and results to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Job description

Astronics AES is searching for a Staff Level Electrical Engineer to join our A irborne Power Control (APC) Product Team based in Kirkland, WA . This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape the design and development of cutting-edge electrical systems, including fixed-wing, helicopter and pioneering eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) applications.

This is primarily an on-site role ; however, we offer flexibility for part-time remote work depending on project requirements.

Position Overview

As a Staff Electrical Engineer , your primary mission is to support Astronics AES in achieving its vision of becoming a global leader in aircraft electrical power generation systems . Our products serve critical systems for s mall to midsize business jets, UAVs, and rotorcraft , and we are looking for driven individuals to help us take them to the next level.

We’re looking for a candidate who demonstrates expertise in the following areas:

  • Product Development Process: Experience in circuit design, simulation, PWB design support, and hardware verification.

  • Power Electronics: Design experience with power electronics circuits; experience with resonant converters is highly valued.

  • Collaboration & Leadership: Proven ability to work effectively in team environments. Leadership experience is highly valued.

  • Meeting Deadlines: Ability to deliver exceptional results under tight timelines. Preferred: examples of successfully overcoming time constraints.

  • Technical Data Development: Skill in creating thorough, methodical, and accurate technical data packages.

  • Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions for complex technical challenges.

  • Aerospace Standards: Experience with aircraft products and development processes, including DO-160 and DO-254 compliance.
