Job summary

Kaleidoscope Innovation is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to develop creative, technically superior electronics solutions for diverse projects under the Engineering Manager. You will lead circuit design (analog/digital), PCB layout, embedded programming, and testing with a hands-on team.

Strong communication and mentorship are required as you drive design quality and project success. Occasional travel up to 25% may be needed for client meetings and reviews in a lab/office setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSEE or related degree from an accredited university.
• 6–15 years of full-time engineering experience.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Executes high quality design solutions with limited or no supervision.
• Leads development of design concepts and creates detailed documentation.
• Designs analog and digital circuits, PCBs, microcontrollers, sensors, motors, and power supplies.
• Performs PCB layout design or modifications using PCB design software.
• Develops hands-on electronics testing with oscilloscopes, DMMs, and power supplies.
• Designs, programs, prototypes, troubleshoots, and tests electronics products.
• Embeds language programming at prototype level.
• Works with RS232, SPI, I2C, USB, Bluetooth, and WiFi.
• Leads and mentors engineers and designers; manages scope and schedule.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Staff Electrical Engineer develops creative and technically superior engineering solutions appropriate to each project assigned.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Executes high quality design solutions with limited or no supervision
• Leads development of design concepts
• Develops detailed product documentation that supports high quality production
• Electronics design expertise including but not limited to analog and digital circuit design, PCBs, microcontrollers, sensors, motors, and power supplies
• Ability to perform PCB layout design or modifications for products using PCB design software
• Hands-on experience with electronics development and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies
• Ability to design, program, prototype, troubleshoot, and test small and medium sized electronics products
• Embedded language programming at prototype and proof-of-concept levels.
• Knowledge of RS232, SPI, I2C, USB, Bluetooth, and WiFi
• Ability to work with and lead a team
• Ability to accurately interpret and drive implementation of changes in design based on feedback from management and/or client

• Leads and participates in project research and brainstorming teams

• Checks work of other engineers and designers
• Leads and mentors subordinate engineers and designers

• Assumes the role of technical leader on assigned projects

Quality (15%)

• Delivers flawless deliverables to client
• Presents to internal and external audiences
• Manages deliverables and timing for self and for team
• Understands and delivers products that meets Kaleidoscope’s standards and when appropriate, international standards and regulations

Business Development (10%)

• Leads the development of proposals and sizing’s for minor projects or as part of a team on larger projects

Continuous Improvement (10%)

• Stays abreast of new and evolving technologies
• Maintains expertise in advanced electronics design and programming skills and makes recommendations for investments in skills and technology
• Recommends process changes to improve quality, cost, and schedule

Education/Experience

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
