We are currently seeking a Staff Dimensional Engineer. This position requires an experienced professional who excels at End-to-End Dimensional Engineering across the whole vehicle. Our ideal candidate has leadership expertise and can exhibit a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their field and strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

The Role:

  1. Lead the activity of collecting dimensional targets and reflecting them into the product, process, and tooling design.
  2. Lead the definition of locating strategy for components and assemblies.
  3. Work with Manufacturing to develop the tooling concept.
  4. Technically lead the development of rigid and compliant dimension models in 3DCS.
  5. Work closely with design and manufacturing engineers to develop, validate, and incorporate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  6. Lead testing, optimizing, and validating GD&T for parts and assemblies to meet or exceed dimensional targets.
  7. Oversee the development of gaging strategy.
  8. Work with cross-functional teams to recommend, evaluate, and make design and process improvement proposals.
  9. Lead the development and rollout of training whenever required.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. 8 years of experience in Dimensional engineering or related area.
  2. 5 years of experience in leading/managing a dimensional engineering team.
  3. Vehicle level leadership of a new product’s dimensional engineering.
  4. Full understanding of automotive system/sub-system level dimensional requirements.
  5. Architectural driver of the development of a new product concept.
  6. Expert-level understanding of GD&T.
  7. A proven track record of excellence in dimensional analysis and tolerance stacks using 3DCS.
  8. A deep understanding of design, development, manufacturing processes, and assembly operations in the automotive or related field.
  9. Proven track record in leadership in Dimensional Engineering in the automotive industry.
  10. Full understanding of Inspection Methods and Measurement Systems.
  11. Expert in Statistical Process Capability, Root Cause Analysis, and Problem-Solving Techniques.
  12. Experience in End-to-End dimensional engineering from concept to launch for a minimum of 5 programs.
  13. Expert level understanding of GD&T and Dimensional standards.

Advantageous:

  1. Pioneering experience in development of End-to-End product development process.
  2. Practical experience in development of Jigs, fixtures, and robotic assembly tools and processes.
  3. Expert-level knowledge in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
  4. Trainer level expertise in 3DCS add-on module for Catia V5/V6.
  5. Full understanding of body structures, castings, extrusions, stampings, molding and all their advantages and limitations.
  6. Full understanding of the Automotive Quality Core Tools (SPC, MSA, PPAP, FMEA & APQP).

Education Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering discipline.
  2. Expert level GD&T qualification.
  3. Master’s degree in engineering is preferred, but not mandatory.
  4. Black belt in 6 Sigma is desirable, but not a mandatory requirement.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
