Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Staff Dimensional Engineer for the SPARC project. You will set GD&T, define datum strategy, and lead dimensional management across HTS magnet production and assemblies, ensuring buildability, verifiability, and acceptance criteria are met.

You will work with metrology teams and quality engineering, guide inspectors and engineers, and drive robust measurement strategies for high‑precision hardware in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Science, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 10+ years of dimensional engineering experience on complex hardware.
• Mastery of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) as an author; datum strategy and drawing review authority.
• Experience applying dimensional management to large assemblies and variation analysis.

Responsibilities

• Set GD&T and datum strategy in partnership with Engineering for manufacturability.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up and 3D variation analysis on large assemblies.
• Architect inspection requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Drive key characteristics from top-level requirements to drawings and supplier needs.
• Support NCR dispositions with dimensional analysis and impact assessment.
• Review engineering change packages for dimensional impact.
• Coach inspectors and design engineers on GD&T interpretation.
