The role: As a Staff Devops Database Administrator, you are part of a technical team that architects, builds, maintains, scales, monitors, and secures the Housecall Pro cloud infrastructure. Your goal is to enable engineering to ship quickly in the face of growth by creating a solid, flexible, and stable foundation. You communicate plans and actions across the engineering team, explain complex topics in simple terms, listen when needed, push back when appropriate, and stay calm under pressure.

The Team: This team promotes flexibility and autonomy with creative freedom and ownership. You are part of the broader engineering team, collaborating to iterate product lines rapidly and safely. Our team is patient, empathetic, hardworking, and focused on improving the lives of service professionals (Pros).

What you’ll be doing
  • Enjoy a mix of software engineering, site reliability engineering, automation, performance optimization, security, and operations
  • Build infrastructure in a public cloud using Infrastructure as Code
  • Automate deployment processes and create deployment pipelines
  • Enable engineering to ship rapidly, safely, and often
  • Build, maintain, and monitor infrastructure with flexibility and long-term viability
  • Work cross-functionally with feature teams to identify infrastructure, security, and reliability needs
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural insights, and contribute as an individual contributor
  • Operate large web applications in production
  • Collaborate with feature teams to optimize the development experience
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in a software engineering role
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Ability to write meaningful, well-tested code solving real customer problems
  • Proficiency in iOS, Android, Ruby on Rails, or Javascript/React
  • Ability to estimate, design, and build a small epic end-to-end
  • Willingness to learn other platforms (Ruby on Rails, iOS, Android, Javascript/React)
  • Ability to bring latest learning and justify why it should be used at Housecall Pro
  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak)
