Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate aspects of training and staff development for staff at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center. The Specialist II is responsible for assessing training needs, planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, documenting, and evaluating training programs. The Specialist II has supervisory responsibilities and program administration duties within the Staff Development Department.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $55,221.00 – $96,639.00

Recruitment Range: $55,221.00 – $96,639.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) / Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • At least 2 years of experience working with people with IDD, and 1 year as a part of a Staff Development program teaching adult learners.
  • Ability to develop training curriculum, conduct classes based on the curriculum, and assess curriculum.
  • Ability to effectively supervise & evaluate work performance.
  • Ability to manager aspects of training program & coordinate training delivery, including scheduling and resource coordination.
  • AHA CPR instructor & ARC lifeguard instructor trainer.
Physical Requirements

Physical ability to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of physical skills taught (i.e., bending, reaching, grasping, holding, movements of arms and legs, standing, lifting etc.).

The J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in Morganton, North Carolina is an ICF certified facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We provide comprehensive residential care to citizens from 37 counties in the western portion of the state. JIRDC is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive, & functional abilities. The J. Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of training development experience in a progressive training or teaching role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
