Job summary

Woodside Senior Communities is seeking an experienced nursing educator to lead the education framework for assisted living staff. You will oversee onboarding, ongoing training, and formal/informal sessions aligned with our standards of practice and HIPAA requirements.

You will serve as an approved CBRF instructor, support dementia care education, and own the EMR system with troubleshooting and updates, ensuring compliance across shifts and facilities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Wisconsin license and CPR certification required.
  • Approved instructor for state-required CBRF courses and dementia care training.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides hands-on leadership to the assisted living staff by creating a framework of educational services that promote growth and development. The educational model should reflect Woodside Senior Communities’ philosophy and Standards of Practice. Maintains integrity, fairness, and responsibility in all actions with employees, residents, and the community. Position provides clinical software support including trouble shooting and program modification. Position exhibits ownership over responsibilities to provide maximize support for the Woodside Manor & Villa operation teams. Routinely interacts with employees on all shifts. Provides appropriate delegation and oversight of assigned clinical tasks. Serves as an approved instructor for applicable state-required CBRF courses and as a dementia care specialist, providing education, guidance, and support to employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Responsible for the education and associated direction of all assisted living staff. Responsibilities begin with the onboarding and orientation process and continue informally or formally in one-on-one or group sessions, as well as in situations where staff need extra focused training in areas of weakness.
  • Consults and coordinates with management to assess, plan, implement and evaluate education needs of staff and educational plan for the assisted living facilities. I t monthly focused audits and evaluation and implementation of further educational needs gleaned from audit data, internal trends, or statewide citation trends is expected.
  • Assists in the identification of potential health or safety risks of residents and staff.
  • Assists in the onboarding of a new hire by ensuring the completion of TB skin tests, drug testing, and a communicable disease exam in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for staff in-service compliance, to include acting as the go to individual for set-up, tracking and follow-up for online in-service courses, coordination and implementation of formal in-services and skills fairs, set-up and tracking of all CBRF compliance and training and creation of critical response training in the event of an identified deficiency.
  • Observes nursing staff to ensure proper nursing care corresponding with a monthly topic from the facility’s education plan. Conducts training and maintains communication with the applicable managers regarding the training sessions.
  • Performs administrative and recordkeeping functions related to employee health, infection control, and education.
  • Consults with institutions or associations regarding issues and concerns relevant to the practice and profession of nursing, state citation trends, and regulatory developments.
  • Provides or arrange for training or instruction of auxiliary personnel or students, coordinates calendar for nursing students, obtains badge form and instructs nursing instructors on EMR training.
  • Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess a resident’s condition.
  • Administers medications on an as needed basis as ordered, including insulin, injections, topical, enteral, oral, etc.
  • Actively participates in quality improvement programs.
  • Oversees that nurses maintain their CPR certification and set up certification renewal for CPR.
  • Ownership of EMR computer system, troubleshooting and modifications.
  • Supports the Mission, Vision, and values of Woodside Senior Communities.
  • Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents/tenants in a safe, secure environment.
  • Observes care in ensuring the confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data as required by HIPAA/HITECH regulations.
  • Abides by all applicable statutes and regulations through compliance with the Woodside Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program.
  • Completes requirements for in-service training.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge required
  • Current/valid State of Wisconsin License and CPR certification required

Must be an approved instructor for applicable state-required CBRF courses and possess training or experience in dementia care, or be willing to obtain the necessary qualifications and training
