Job summary

Oakdale Seniors Alliance in partnership with Norwood Crossing in Chicago is seeking a Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) to lead clinical education and staff competency across a SNF/AL setting. The role emphasizes onboarding, training, and regulatory readiness for care teams.

You will build programs, maintain training records, and collaborate with Infection Prevention to promote person-centered care. A current IL RN license and prior SDC/education coordination experience are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered RN license in Illinois.
• Experience as an SDC or Education Coordinator in SNF/AL preferred.
• Deep understanding of long-term care regulations and adult learning principles.
• High energy, strong organizational and mentorship skills with a sense of humor.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding & Orientation: develop comprehensive programs for new employees.
• Training Champion: design, schedule, and deliver mandatory and professional in-service education for clinical and non-clinical staff.
• Compliance & Audit Prep: maintain training records and coordinate competency check-offs for surveys.

• Skill Development: identify and implement training to elevate staff skills.

The Role: Staff Development Coordinator (SDC)

The SDC is the heart of our clinical excellence—the person who ensures every staff member is trained, certified, and equipped to provide exceptional care. You aren't just an educator; you're a Culture Builder and a Compliance Ace.

Your Mission (What You'll Be Doing):

• Onboarding & Orientation: Develop and conduct comprehensive orientation programs for all new employees, ensuring they are prepared and excited to join the Norwood Crossing family.

• Training Champion: Design, schedule, and deliver all mandatory and professional in-service education programs for clinical and non-clinical staff (CNA, LPN, RN, etc.).

• Compliance & Audit Prep: Maintain meticulous training records and coordinate all staff competency check-offs to ensure full compliance with all state and federal regulations (IDPH). Be our key resource during regulatory surveys.

• Program Management: Oversee the facility's CNA training program and often work closely with the Infection Preventionist role to keep the community safe and educated.

• Skill Development: Identify and implement training needed to elevate staff skills, from new clinical protocols to person-centered dementia care techniques.

What You Need to Succeed (The Nuts and Bolts):

• License: Must possess a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.

• Experience: Prior experience as an SDC, Education Coordinator, or similar role in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Assisted Living setting is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge: Deep understanding of current long-term care regulations, state training requirements, and adult learning principles.

• Soft Skills: High energy, exceptional organizational skills, and a genuine passion for teaching and mentorship. A great sense of humor is a plus—we work hard, but we also believe in laughing.
