Saint Joseph Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Boston, MA, is seeking a Staff Development and Infection Prevention Coordinator (SDC/IPC) to lead clinical development and infection control programs. The role requires RN licensure, strong English communication, and prior management experience in long-term care.

You will oversee staff education, orientation, policy implementation, and infection prevention across the facility.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid RN license and be able to read, write, speak, educate, and evaluate in English.
• Infection prevention certification or ability to complete within 2 months of hire.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience with management in long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Observe and evaluate the clinical skills of staff to ensure adherence to Facility, State, and CMS policies.
• Develop nursing staff knowledge and skills through training; utilize clinical data to determine education needs to improve clinical outcomes.
• Coordinate orientation programs for Licensed Nurses and CNAs with preceptors to support effective training.
• Implement new nursing policies and procedures.
• Provide CNAs with a minimum of 12 hours of education annually.
• Lead the Infection Control program and committee activities, including antibiotic stewardship.
• Maintain center-wide systems for infection prevention, reporting, and control of infectious diseases.
• Present IC trends and improvement plans to the facilities QAPI committee.
• Educate staff, residents, and families on infection prevention principles and notify local public health of reportable diseases.

We are hiring a Staff Development and Infection Prevention Coordinator (SDC/IPC) to join our team. St. Joseph's is a fast paced, sub-acute and long-term rehabilitation skilled nursing care provider. The SDC/IPC is responsible for the implementation and evaluation of programs and practices relating to clinical development and Infection Control Management.

• Observe and evaluate the clinical skills of staff to ensure adherence to Facility, State, and CMS policies.
• Develop nursing staff knowledge and skills through training; utilize clinical data to determine education needs to improve clinical outcomes.
• Coordinate the Licensed Nurse/Certified Nursing Assistant Orientation programs with preceptors in order to provide meaningful and effective training for newly hired nursing staff. Provides oversite to our established, internal Preceptor Programs.
• Implement new nursing policies and procedures.
• Provide Certified Nursing Assistants with a minimum of 12 hours of education annually.
• Maintains employee health and education files.
• Implements an ongoing infection prevention and control program to prevent, recognize, and control the onset and spread of infections to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment.
• Lead the centers Infection Control Committee and manage the Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
• Maintain center-wide systems for the prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and control of infections and communicable diseases of residents, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain the Antibiotic Line Listing, report trends, and develop action plans to address opportunities for improvement.
• Participates in the facilities QAPI Committee, presents IC trends and improvement plan.
• Provides education related to infection prevention and control principles, policies, and procedures to staff, residents, and families (where appropriate). Ensures local public health is notified of reportable diseases.

Qualification of the SDC/IPC:

• Hold a valid Registered Nurse, RN, license. LPN with nursing management/leadership may be considered. Resumes from non-licensed, non-nursing candidates are unqualified and will not be considered.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, educate and evaluate in English. Other languages are helpful but not required.
• Must be able to add, subtract, divide and multiply.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook are required
• Infection Preventionist certification or ability to complete within 2 months of hire

Experience of the SDC/IPC:

• At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
• Management experience in the long-term care setting.
