Ciena Healthcare in Michigan is seeking a Staff Development and Infection Control RN to educate nursing staff, lead orientation, and oversee infection prevention initiatives.

This role designs programs, monitors compliance, coordinates schedules, and investigates outbreaks to protect residents and staff. A sign-on bonus accompanies the opportunity.

Requirements include RN licensure in Michigan and CPR; 1–3 years in long-term care preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state.
• 1–3 years of long-term care experience preferred.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Designs, plans and provides educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
• Participates in staff evaluation with attendance records and observation of employee performance.
• Provides general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
• Plans monthly and annual education schedules.
• Ensures CNAs/STNAs meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
• Actively participates in quality assurance and reports concerns to supervisor.
• Monitors healthcare-associated infections.
• Assesses infection prevention problems and recommends corrective action.
• Initiates, reviews, and revises infection prevention policies and procedures.
• Conducts outbreak investigations and reports communicable diseases as required by law.

Are you a nurse who is passionate about teaching others? The Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Prevention nurse acts as the educator for the facility, conducts orientation and other in-service educational programs for the nursing staff. In addition, this nurse is responsible for designing systems and approving actions to prevent or control infections, based on surveillance reports of infections and infection potential among residents and staff.
