Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Design Industrialization Engineer to bridge engineering and supply chain, improving spec development and PPAP readiness for next-gen EV powertrains. You’ll drive DFM-focused discussions with suppliers and guide internal processes for manufacturability and cost optimization.

The role requires 8+ years in automotive manufacturing, CATIA proficiency, and strong leadership to build engineering and quality teams. Hybrid work model and competitive salary offered.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years in automotive high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong background in design for manufacturing and supplier collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Own processes, communication, and documentation during transition to high volume production.
  • Develop correct specs for RFQs using reliability goals and FMEA.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities using DFM tools and PPAP processes.
  • Define supplier quality goals during DFM negotiations and prototype phases.
  • Ensure 100% DFM prior sourcing for new complex technologies and capture related data.
  • Conduct supplier visits to verify information accuracy.
  • Support design team in generating and checking 2-D drawings and component specs.
  • Define internal specification development procedures and perform DFM reviews.
  • Validate quoted costs vs production reality and drive cost optimization.
  • Lead program scheduling with supplier lead-times and ensure milestones.
  • Contribute to hiring and building engineering and quality teams.

In this position. The Design Industrialization Engineer is responsible for working between engineering and supply chain teams as well as with external suppliers to ensure alignment on requirements, provide critical feedback on part designs, 2-D drawings, and directly improve specification development procedures for Ford’s next generation electric powertrains.

What you’ll do
  • Own processes, communication, and documentation during transition to high volume production
  • Develop correct specs for successful RFQ's using reliability goals and FMEA's
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities using Product DFM & Process DFM tools
  • Define supplier quality goals during DFM negotiations and prototype phases for pre-production activities
  • . Ensures 100% DFM prior sourcing for new complex technologies. Captures CAPEX and tooling. BOD/BOM/BOP captured , After sourcing continues to evolve for industrialization readiness, single source of truth for industrialization execution for PPAP QOE delivery
  • Conduct supplier visits to ensure accuracy of information
  • Support design team in generating and checking 2-D drawings and component specifications
  • Define internal specification development procedures
  • Perform design for manufacturing review of components and systems
  • Validate quoted costs vs. reality of production, and eliminate supplier waste for optimized cost
  • Help define and drive program schedule based on supplier lead-times
  • Ensure engineering design work and supplier milestones are met
  • Directly contribute to hiring and building out of engineering and quality teams
You’ll have
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive or related high volume manufacturing field
  • Proficiency in CATIA
  • Experience with PPAP, Lean Six Sigma, and Minitab.
  • Strong engineering and quality skills to support supplier process and quality negotiations
  • Previous experience as a design and quality engineer
  • Ability to provide feedback on supplier processes to ensure manufacturability and cost optimization.
  • Ability to hire and recruit engineering and supply chain team member.
  • . Leading people, assertiveness and collaboration with Multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in supplier quality management and production management
  • Familiarity with GD&T and DFM
  • Understanding of QMS and SPC

This position is a leadership level 6 and ranges from $127,100-$239,900. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
