Description

The IDD Staff Dentist is responsible for providing and managing the clinical care of our adult patients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). As part of an integrated team based model of care, the IDD dentist will work closely with medical providers, behavioral and mental health staff, and caregivers. This position involves participation in the virtual mobile dentistry model and faculty oversight of dental residents. The IDD dentist may also care for non-IDD patients as needed. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Salary Range

$162,225 - $195,700 per year DOE

Specific Tasks/Duties

1. Examine individuals requesting care, diagnose dental/oral conditions, prescribe and carry out treatments, or refer for specialty care.
2. Provide care and oversight on sedated (orally) IDD patients within California certification scope.
3. Assess and manage patients using risk assessment (CAMBRA).
4. Accurately document patient interactions and treatments.
5. Complete referrals, data collection, and required paperwork.
6. Educate patients on oral health and disease prevention.
7. Serve on dental staff and other committees as assigned.
8. Assist in continuing education, training, and community health education.
9. Coordinate dental services with other programs for patient welfare.
10. Participate in CQI and Peer Review Committees.
11. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and protocols.
12. Perform other tasks as directed by the Dental Director.

Qualifications

• California Dental License, NPI, and DEA registrations.
• Current CPR (BLS); ACLS preferred.
• Completion of an accredited general practice residency preferred.
• California Radiation Safety Certificate.
• At least two years of clinic experience with the IDD population required.
• Experience with oral sedation for IDD patients preferred.
