Job summary

Airbnb is seeking an experienced Data Infrastructure Engineer to design and build the next generation big data compute platform for ETL, analytics, and ML. You will operate and improve platform reliability, performance, and cost efficiency while writing maintainable code and conducting code reviews.

You will work with Spark, Presto/Trino, and Kubernetes, collaborating across teams to test and integrate scalable distributed systems.

Qualifications

BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
10+ years of experience with data infrastructure and big data technologies.
Proficiency in Spark, Presto/Trino, and Kubernetes.
Strong programming skills in Java and Scala.
Extensive experience designing and maintaining scalable, fault‑tolerant distributed systems.
Expertise in multi‑threading and concurrency programming.
Familiar with SQL and NoSQL databases.
Proven ability to collaborate cross‑functionally to define requirements and test solutions.
Capacity to troubleshoot complex data infra problems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
