Job summary

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to own conversational, agentic, and generative AI systems from modeling to production at our scale. You will lead end-to-end projects and tune ML/LLM systems for reliability and low latency.

You will collaborate with engineers, product partners, and designers to balance cutting-edge research with real-world operational needs in a fast-moving environment.

What you'll do...

As part of the Emerging Tech team, you’ll help move AI from reactive to proactive by building systems that operate in the real world. As a Staff Data Scientist, you’ll take full ownership of conversational, agentic, and generative AI systems from modeling to production, powering intelligent agents at Walmart’s scale.

As a Staff Data Scientist you will:

• Leadprojectsend-to-end, from defining the problem to launching productionready solutions.
• Design, finetune, evaluate, and deploy machine learning and LLMbased systems that perform reliably at Walmart scale.
• Takeownership of how systems behave in the real world, including latency, scale, and reliability.
• Influenceteams across Emerging Tech through strong technical judgment and partnership, not authority.
• Work confidently in fastmoving, ambiguous spaces where quick learning and iteration matter.

Experience we are looking for:

• 4–9+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI.
• Handson experience building, finetuning, evaluating, and deploying ML or LLMdriven systems.
• Strengthin one of the following areas:
• NLP, conversational AI, or agentic workflows
• Deep learning and multimodal generative modeling (text, image, video, or 3D)
• Experiencerunning scalable, productiongrade systems that support real customers.
• FamiliaritywithMLOpspractices, distributed training, or inference optimization (especially for deeplearning specialists).
• Abilityto balancecuttingedgeresearch with realworld operational needs.

Bellevue, Washington US-11663: The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
