Job summary

Walmart is hiring a Staff Data Scientist in New York to lead ML solutions for personalization and ad targeting at scale. You will translate business questions into scalable models, develop and deploy deep learning systems, and drive experimentation and optimization in production.

You will work with cross-functional teams, using PyTorch/TensorFlow, PySpark, and MLflow to improve model performance and deliver measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters in a related field with years of analytics experience; multiple options.
• Preferred Qualifications: Data science, ML, optimization models, and strong Python/Spark/R programming skills.
• Knowledge of open source ML frameworks and accessibility considerations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, and deploy ML models for personalization, recommendation, and targeting.
• Lead end-to-end ML projects from problem formulation to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to align priorities and technical tradeoffs.
• Establish offline evaluation and online experimentation to measure model performance.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

6 years' experience in an analytics or related field
