Position Summary

We are seeking a Staff Data Scientist to leverage their expertise and help us lead the next retail disruption.

About Team

Our team collaborates with US stores and eCommerce to enhance customer service through technological innovation. Walmart U.S. offers a wide range of products, from groceries to entertainment, available online, via mobile apps, or in-store. Our focus areas include customer experience, store operations, merchant tools, and personalization.

We aim to develop best-in-class data products within the Personalization Team, powering personalized recommendations using advanced industrial technology.

What you'll do
  • Lead development and integration of data-driven product capabilities.
  • Oversee projects and support the team to ensure timely delivery.
  • Promote best practices in MLOps, data, and code quality testing.
  • Collaborate across teams to identify opportunities and foster innovation.
  • Translate business needs into data strategies, prioritize, and plan accordingly.
What you'll bring
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields with 5+ years of practical experience.
  • Deep knowledge of machine learning algorithms and statistics.
  • Experience in ecommerce and digital customer behavior applications.
  • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills; ability to prototype and implement complex AI solutions.
  • Generative AI experience is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor's in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related with 4+ years of experience.
Option 2: Master's in the same fields with 2+ years of experience.
Option 3: 6+ years of experience in analytics or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in data science, machine learning, optimization models, PhD in related fields, proficiency in Python, Spark, Scala, R, and familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive digital experiences.
