Job summary

Unity Technologies is seeking a Staff Engineer, Data Platform in the United States to design, build, and scale data infrastructure powering our Ads business and Unity Commons. You will work across distributed systems, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure while leading cross-team initiatives.

You will partner with engineering, data science, and product teams to deliver resilient, scalable platforms, with an emphasis on reliability, observability, and developer experience.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Strong backend and systems engineering skills, including service design, API design, integration, debugging, and production operations.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems: scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, performance, consistency, and trade-offs.
• Experience building shared platforms or self-service infrastructure to support multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and evolution of scalable platform services and backend systems used across Unity.
• Work across distributed systems, data pipelines, cloud infra, observability, reliability, automation, and DX for platform engineering.
• Partner with Ads, data, infra, and product teams to identify needs and deliver reusable solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple systems and teams.
• Contribute to platform patterns, standards, and best practices to improve consistency and quality.
