Job summary

Alight Solutions Ltd. seeks a hands-on Staff Data Platform Engineer to lead the evolution of our data platform.

You will design and build the orchestration architecture, data transformation frameworks, and tooling to scale thousands of data pipelines and ensure reliability across the data ecosystem. Own the platform's technical direction, collaborate with Product and Engineering, and drive architecture across data ingestion, transformation and orchestration to deliver data-driven products and

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data platform, data engineering or software engineering experience with production-grade data systems.
• Deep knowledge of data modeling, SQL, transformation frameworks, orchestration and data quality.
• Extensive Python engineering skills and experience creating extensible frameworks, reusable abstractions and developer tooling.
• Experience designing and scaling data platforms, including orchestration, pipeline execution, and infrastructure supporting large numbers of independently managed workloads.
• Experience designing configuration-driven systems that generalize complex processing requirements.
• Experience supporting production applications and operational workflows with emphasis on reliability and observability.
• Demonstrated ability to independently establish technical direction and drive platform architecture across Product and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the Data Engine's ingestion, transformation, and orchestration infrastructure to increase integration capacity and reduce manual effort.
• Design extensible data models, transformation libraries and configuration-driven abstractions.
• Build developer tooling and reusable platform capabilities for independent delivery, monitoring and maintenance of data integrations.
• Design scalable orchestration patterns to support thousands of data pipelines and workloads.
• Improve platform reliability, observability and operational efficiency through automated validation and monitoring.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Software Engineering and Operations to align capabilities with product delivery and client rollout needs.
