Job description

Job Description

We’re looking for a Staff Data Infrastructure Engineer to join Procore's Data Mesh Division working on our FedRAMP initiative. In this role, you’ll help build Procore’s next-generation construction data platform for others to build upon, including Procore developers, analysts, partners, and customers.

As a Staff Data Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll partner with other engineers and product managers across Product & Technology to develop data infrastructures that adhere to the highest security standards supporting Procore's applications. To succeed, you should be passionate about cloud-based infrastructure, with hands-on experience building scalable and reliable data systems. If you enjoy solving complex problems, pushing technical boundaries, and shaping future data infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you!

This position reports to the Director of Data Mesh and is based in our Austin, TX office. Immediate joiners preferred.

What you’ll do:
  1. Participate in designing and implementing our data platform, focusing on database management, data lake operations, streaming, and batch processing.
  2. Lead our engineering team through all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and support, using an agile approach.
  3. Enable developers to efficiently build and operate software at scale by providing self-service data infrastructure capabilities.
  4. Identify and propose solutions for technical gaps via proof of concepts and experiments.
  5. Collaborate with Product, UX, and other engineering teams to influence product roadmap and develop innovative solutions that add capabilities to Procore.
  6. Support and mentor teammates through feedback, training, and removing barriers to progress.
  7. Stay updated with the latest trends in data technology.
What we’re looking for:
  • Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Elastic Cache, DynamoDB, MongoDB) and streaming (Kafka, Flink), batch (Spark), and DataBricks technologies at scale.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment tools (CircleCI, Github, ArgoCD).
  • At least 4 years of experience as a DBA/DBE with the cited database technologies.
  • 4+ years building and operating cloud-based, highly available, scalable data platforms supporting large enterprise data needs.
  • Proficiency in managing infrastructure as code, e.g., Terraform.
  • Experience with AWS services (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and container-based hosting strategies.
  • Understanding of data access patterns, site reliability engineering, security, and cost optimization.
  • Strong leadership skills to support, influence, and develop talent.
  • Passion for learning and exploring new technologies.
