Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Staff level data engineering leader to drive high-impact data pipelines and scalable data infrastructure. You will mentor engineers and partner with recruiting to attract top talent, delivering pipelines that scale with user demand and ensuring trustworthy data across Stripe.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years building data systems, strong SQL, and backend experience (Scala/Java/Go). Experience with Airflow, Spark, Kafka, and Flink is a plus.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building and operating data systems, pipelines, and warehouses
• Strong engineering background with distributed data pipelines
• Inquisitive about data quality issues and data inconsistencies
• Backend language with SQL experience (Scala/Java/Go)
• Customer-focused, partnering with product and engineers to understand use cases
• Able to collaborate across teams and make trade-offs in ambiguous environments

• Lead the technical outcomes for a team of engineers, providing mentorship and support
• Partner with recruiting to attract and hire top talent
• Deliver cutting-edge data pipelines that scale to users’ needs
• Develop subject matter expertise and manage SLAs of data pipelines and apps
• Collaborate to create canonical datasets and data warehouses with trusted data
• Leverage AI/LLM and Agents to analyze data on complex problems
• Drive end-to-end data initiatives from planning to delivery
