We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our Data team! This is an opportunity to ship extremely high-value, customer-facing work at a company where data is the core product. We’re looking for someone who’s self-motivated, takes ownership, and is excited to grow rapidly as a technical leader.

This is an incredible opportunity for someone with deep technical expertise, a desire to do high-impact work on a flexible, fast-growing team. You will set technical direction and ship code for major initiatives that drive a huge amount for the company in a core part of the product.

Grata is a hybrid company, which means our employees work from our NYC office (near Bryant Park) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

At Grata, we will expect you to:
  • Write high-quality production code. Champion best practices in code quality and development processes across the team.
  • Take a leadership role in architecting the data warehouse.
  • Guide the team in thoughtfully & effectively modeling our data, domains, and pipeline structures.
  • Mentor other team members.
What we are looking for:
  • 5+ years of experience writing data pipelines and creating clean, reliable transformation processes.
  • Deep experience owning major data modelling projects and making decisions based on industry standard strategies (Kimball, star schema, etc).
  • Deep experience with Spark & Databricks.
  • A strong sense of ownership, action-orientation, and a desire to improve the processes and systems around you.
  • Experience mentoring other developers.

Grata is committed to providing competitive cash compensation and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For candidates based in New York City, the total expected compensation is $157,500 to $189,000, which includes a base salary component and a bonus component. The estimated base salary for this role is $150,000 - $180,000 per year. There is also an annual bonus plan of 5-15% of base salary, depending on experience.
