National Grid is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team, focused on building scalable data pipelines and data integrations across large data sets. Qualifications

• Lead the Data engineering Team to develop, test, document and support scalable data pipelines.
• Build out new data integrations including APIs to support increasing data volume and complexity.
• Establish and follow data governance processes to ensure data availability, usability, consistency, integrity, and security.
• Build scalable solutions aligned to data governance standards and architectural roadmaps for data integrations, storage, reporting, and analytics.
• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models for BI tools and data-driven decisions.
• Design and develop data integrations and a data quality framework; write tests and document work.
• Design, implement, and automate deployment of distributed systems for collecting/processing streaming events.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural plans and artifacts for cross-org projects; drive system architecture beyond team scope.
• Execute large projects, break work down, and integrate within the org, handling edge cases.
• Participate in architectural designs, contributing software design expertise across teams.
• Generalize solutions to broader problems beyond the immediate team scope.
• Incorporate key technology frameworks used company-wide and contribute to core engineering solutions.
• Proactively anticipate future needs for the technical roadmap at team and org level.
• Drive the org tech roadmap; participate in prioritization and planning of this work.
• Mentor junior engineers on coding best practices and optimization.
