Job description

Staff Data Engineer - (employer: Sirius XM Radio Inc.; job location: New York, NY) - Define technical requirements for tools and applications that support Data Quality and Data Standards (DQDS) Team with profiling, controls, alerts, KPIs, dashboards and other tooling for business-critical partner and internal data utilized across our systems. Design, develop and improve applications and tools to monitor data quality and improve data literacy using data science algorithms and methodologies, including with cloud-based data pipeline frameworks and workflow orchestration tooling. Design and develop a data quality analytics framework to standardize the detection of data issues, identify root cause, and drive improvements in data processing procedures. Use knowledge of SXM’s data domains (e.g., car/radio lifecycle, customer, marketing, streaming, contact center) to develop advanced quality controls and to easily navigate anomalies affecting a broad cross-functional audience. Write documentation to encourage adoption of DQDS tools, support users, and support analysts as needed with query/ETL optimization. Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Engineering (Computer or Electrical), plus 3 years of experience in the position offered or as Data Engineer or Data Analysis Manager or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or Engineering (Computer or Electrical), plus 5 years of post-Bachelor’s progressive experience in the position offered or as Data Engineer or Data Analysis Manager. All of the required experience must have included developing data ETL pipelines and data tools in Scala or Python; developing complex SQL applications; developing and deploying machine learning algorithms; working with unit and integration testing frameworks; applying understanding of software development life cycle; and working with data technologies (Databricks, MapReduce, HDFS, Hive, Tez, Spark, or Sqoop), streaming technologies (Kafka, Kafka Connect, KStreams, KSQL, Kinesis, Beam, Flink, or Spark), cloud computing (GCP or AWS), data visualization or data notebook tools (Jupyter, Zeppelin or Tableau), workflow management systems (Airflow, Composer or Luigi), API design/development (RPC or REST), DevOps tools and practices (version control, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, build/deployment systems and performance monitoring), and data serialization systems (Avro or Protobuf). #LI-DNI.
