Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Staff Data Center Solutions Architect to design software that bridges DCIM platforms with data center hardware. You will integrate AI cloud monitoring with BMS and EE-adjacent interfaces, developing secure, well-instrumented control and telemetry systems for racks and subsystems.

You will collaborate with EE, infrastructure, and AI teams to implement protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, Redfish, and IPMI while contributing to architecture and runbooks for scalable data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years in software engineering, including hardware interfacing.
• Experience with BMS integration or industrial/building automation protocols.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting solutions, storage and retrieval.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, or Go.
• Familiarity with EE-adjacent hardware interfaces and Linux driver-like software.

Job Summary

As a Staff Data Center Solutions Architect on the Supermicro DCBBS Datacenter team, you will design and build the software that connects together DCIM platforms as well as connects to data center hardware, with a particular focus integrating AI Cloud Systems monitoring and application software with BMS (Building Management System) integration and EE-adjacent interfaces.

You will develop software that connects to Supermicro software products and monitors BMS and other hardware subsystems within data center racks, working closely with electrical engineering, infrastructure, and AI engineering teams to deliver secure, resilient, and well-instrumented control and telemetry systems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• BMS Integration & Control: Design and develop software that connects to and monitors Building Management Systems (BMS) and other hardware subsystems within data center racks, enabling real-time monitoring, control, and automation of critical infrastructure such as power, cooling, and environmental sensors.
• Hardware-Software Interface Development: Build applications, services, and drivers that connect to EE-adjacent interfaces (BMC, IPMI, Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, Redfish, and similar protocols) to control and monitor datacenter hardware subsystems.
• Data Center Systems Software Architecture: Define the software architecture for datacenter hardware control and telemetry systems, ensuring performant, resilient, and secure interoperability between hardware subsystems and higher-level orchestration and monitoring platforms.
• Real-Time Monitoring & Telemetry: Develop services to capture, process, and expose real-time telemetry (power, thermal, airflow, and rack-level sensor data) from BMS and hardware subsystems to internal dashboards and monitoring stacks.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration with EE Teams: Work closely with electrical engineering and hardware teams to understand hardware interfaces, protocols, and signal-level details, translating hardware capabilities into robust, maintainable software abstractions.
• Protocol & Standards Implementation: Implement and maintain support for industry-standard datacenter and building automation protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, Redfish, IPMI) within Supermicro's software stack.
• API & Platform Integration: Create APIs and integration layers so that BMS and hardware subsystem data can be consumed by Supermicro's broader DCBBS cloud orchestration and monitoring platforms.
• Documentation & Runbooks: Maintain accurate architecture documentation, integration runbooks, and troubleshooting guides. Contribute to onboarding materials and cross-functional platform knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including experience building software that interfaces directly with hardware
• Experience with BMS (Building Management System) integration or industrial/building automation protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP)
• Experience with monitoring and alerting solutions as well as storage and retrieval
• Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, or Go
• Familiarity with EE-adjacent hardware interfaces and concepts (BMC, IPMI, sensors, firmware interaction)
• Experience with Linux systems programming and low-level or driver-adjacent software development
• Understanding of datacenter infrastructure fundamentals (power distribution, cooling, rack-level systems)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Redfish, IPMI, or BMC firmware interfaces
• Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts (power distribution, sensors, telemetry)
• Experience with real-time or embedded software systems
• Knowledge of cloud orchestration and monitoring stacks (e.g., Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana)
• Prior experience in datacenter hardware, facilities engineering, or building automation industries
• Certifications relevant to building automation or datacenter infrastructure

Salary Range

$195,000 - $225,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
